A new house on a disused builders yard spanning across the backs of several high street properties. In three wings to form an east facing courtyard, the primary structure is a hybrid of structural masonry and steel framing, courtyard infill panels in multi wall polycarbonate with roof and floor in timber I-joists.  Complicated site geology with a 1.5m layer of fill overlying the yard of a much earlier brickworks with peat layers beneath, led us to a piled raft foundation solution.
