Extensive structural alterations to the garden flat of a Grade II listed mansion block in Belsize Park.

substantial loads had to be designed for whilst the upper storeys remained in occupation

large openable space with minimum intrusion from structural framing

walls were removed from deep within the building plan to create expansive living space

a narrow element of new extension was also created up to the party wall

structural framing for the rear extension during construction

we designed and managed a method for the controlled transfer of load from the temporary works propping to the permanent structure using harjak torque controlled wedges and dial indicators
