Steve is a graduate of Warwick University, he has led the practice since 1999, and he continues to oversee the full range of the practice portfolio.

His expertise draws on the experience gained from over 20 years of delivering one-off construction projects, and he enjoys adapting structural systems to complement Architectural schemes.

In his early career Steve worked in conservation structural engineering gaining a wide experience of building typologies and fostering a keen interest in timber framing traditions.

Aside from his structural design input to early project conversations, he is able to contribute early advice to suitable procurement and programme choices.

He is a keen woodworker and his workshop experience brings these skills to the technical aspects of Architectural detailing.

Out of work he is keen on outdoor life with interests in mountain biking, fell running, triathlon, and nature watching.

Lizzie is a graduate of The University of Bath and has been with Built since 2016, playing a pivotal Project Engineer role in numerous challenging projects since then.

She enjoys close collaboration with Architects to find the most appropriate scheme for a project and has experience in the residential, commercial and educational sectors.

She has previously travelled extensively around New Zealand where she also spent a year working as a structural engineer, developing an understanding of building components in a seismic environment.

Lizzie is a rigorous structural designer with a parallel interest in the practicalities of design and hand crafting, recently exploring the use of concrete away from construction.

She is a keen sportswoman having played at her local hockey club since 2003, latterly taking up road cycling and triathlon.
